LIEBHERR manufactures an extensive range of truck-mounted concrete mixers for both chassis and semi-trailers. Additionally, there is a separate line of mixers equipped with conveyor belts.
- On chassis, mixers range from 5 to 12 m3.
- On semi-trailers — from 10 to 15 m3.
The foundation of a concrete mixer’s durability is:
- wear-resistant steel for the drum and spirals
- reliable drive system
- a subframe that works as a single unit with the chassis frame.
For the production of the drum and spirals, Liebherr, in collaboration with a well-known steel manufacturer in Germany, developed its own steel grade Licro500, which surpasses the widely used Hardox in wear resistance while offering better machinability and corrosion resistance.
In the mixer drive, Liebherr uses only components from the most reputable manufacturers, tested over many years of operation: ZF, SAUER, PMP. Moreover, all drives have a high torque margin. This ensures that, with simple regular maintenance, customers can forget about drive issues for many years.
The subframe plays a crucial role in the mixer’s design, as it transfers the load from the loaded mixer to the chassis frame and absorbs the “shocks of fate” from often imperfect road surfaces.
Liebherr manufactures subframes from the same steel grade as the chassis frame, ensuring perfectly synchronized operation of both elements. Each subframe, including mounting components, is made not only for a specific chassis brand but also for its modification, ensuring even load distribution on the chassis frame and extending its service life.
Liebherr has developed its own Litronic-EMC control system, which not only significantly enhances driver comfort but also reduces wear on all drive and mixer components by precisely regulating the energy required for drum rotation.
The concrete transport market is highly competitive, making it very important to transport even slight excess volumes of concrete “legally.” Liebherr pays special attention to reducing mixer weight. For clients concerned with axle loads, the production program includes, besides the standard “Standard” mixer (for normal operating conditions) and “LongLife” (for particularly demanding conditions), also “Leichtbau” (lightweight) and “Super-leichtbau” (super-lightweight) mixers. To maximize the benefits of lightweight mixers, lightweight versions of the base truck chassis should also be used.
