What types of special equipment are most commonly used in construction?

Specialized equipment refers to specialized machines that assist in performing difficult or complex tasks, such as lifting heavy loads, digging the ground, or transporting large volumes of materials. It is necessary to make work faster, more efficient, and safer, especially in construction, industry, and agriculture.

How do mobile cranes differ from tower cranes?

Tower cranes are permanently installed on a solid foundation or rail track, have a significantly greater lifting height (up to 100+ meters) and load capacity over long distances, They operate throughout the entire construction cycle of multi-story buildings and are designed specifically for long-term, intensive lifting of loads to height.

How to choose the right truck for transporting goods?

Choosing a truck is easy: determine how many tons you will be transporting (up to 3.5 tons — B license, 5–12 tons — C license, over 20 tons — tractor with semi-trailer), what exactly you will be transporting (tent, ref, dump truck, tank, or low loader) and where you will be driving (city — maneuverability, highway — sleeper cab and 90 km/h, off-road — four-wheel drive).

Is a special license required to operate special equipment?

Yes, it is required.
In Ukraine, to operate any special equipment (excavator, bulldozer, truck crane, loader, grader, etc.), a tractor-driver’s license (categories A1, A2, B, C, D, E, F, etc., depending on the type of machine) is mandatory.
A simple category B or C license does not give you the right to operate special equipment.

How to properly maintain special equipment to extend its service life?

Maintain special equipment strictly according to motor hours, change all fluids and filters on time (especially hydraulics).
Check for leaks daily, clean radiators, and do not turn off the engine immediately after work.
Store under a roof, keep a maintenance log, and your equipment will last twice as long.

What safety precautions should be followed when working with special equipment?

Never work without protective clothing, a helmet, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes; always inspect the equipment before starting, check the brakes, hydraulics, and signals, sound the horn before moving, and make sure there are no people in the work area.
It is strictly forbidden to: stand under a raised load/bucket, smoke near the hydraulics, work with the cab door open, transport people in buckets, and remove protective covers/guards during operation.
